Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is an American anchor for a television newscast and a anchor and commentator on NBC News based in Washington D.C. After growing up living in New York City, Mitchell earned a BA in English literature at The University of Pennsylvania. In the year 1967, Mitchell began her career as a reporter with KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. Mitchell joined CBS station WDVM-TV (then WTOP) in Washington DC in 1976. She joined NBC News Washington two years after that as general reporter. 1981 she started covering the White House, and in 1988, she was promoted to chief congressional correspondent. In 1992, she was named Chief White House Correspondent and in 1994 was appointed chief foreign affairs reporter of NBC News. Mitchell was a panelist for the TV program Meet the Press and also was the host for the program. Mitchell joined the panel of the 1988 presidential debates in which George Bush against Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married with Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded in 2005 the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism at the John F. Kennedy School of Government. And in 2004 the Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA) was honoured Mitchell for her contribution to the cause of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was the first reporter to cover White House stories for NBC News during the time of Ronald Reagan in office from 1981 to 1988. She reported on a variety of interesting stories such as arms control the budget tax reform as well as the Iran-contra scandal. Mitchell traveled extensively along with President Reagan to meetings with Mikhail Gorbachev and other world leaders.
